Choose the cartridge your exact pump requires. Intex’s current US records list Type A, 29000E, for pump items 28603EG, 28637EG and 28635EG; Type B, 29005E, for 28633EG; and Type H, 29007E, for 28601EG. Check your pump label and its correct manual before using that match. A different letter is not a filtration upgrade for the same pump.

If the correct cartridge is still usable under the pump’s maintenance instructions and you already have the spares you need, buy nothing. This comparison is for identifying a needed replacement, not adding an accessory to a working system.

Our method is a document-based audit of Intex’s US compatibility lists and pack numbers, checked 2 October 2026, plus the exact Amazon.com identities for the two linked single packs. We did not test cartridge fit, particle capture, pressure, flow recovery or service life. The map below covers five named US pump items, not every Intex pump, year or regional variant.

Intex A, B and H: the verified US pump map

Use the complete item number, including its suffix. The GPH column preserves the manufacturer’s pump-flow label as a cross-check; it is not measured flow in your installed pool.

Intex US pump item Manufacturer’s pump-flow label Cartridge type Genuine single-cartridge item Primary compatibility source
28603EG 530 US gallons per hour A 29000E Intex Type A
28637EG 1,000 US gallons per hour A 29000E Intex Type A
28635EG 1,500 US gallons per hour A 29000E Intex Type A
28633EG 2,500 US gallons per hour B 29005E Intex Type B
28601EG 330 US gallons per hour H 29007E Intex Type H

These are Intex’s US product item numbers. Your pump’s housing label or manual may also use a different model code. Record that code, the year and region, then use the correct manual or Intex support to reconcile it with the sales item. A partial name such as “C1500” or a remembered flow rating is not enough to assign a row.

If your exact item is absent, the table has not established its fit. Check the cartridge type and replacement number in your own manual. If the manual, existing cartridge package and seller’s listing disagree, stop and resolve the discrepancy before ordering. The old element can help identify the part, but its presence does not prove a previous owner installed the right one.

Why GPH and “Type B” can lead to the wrong purchase

The 28633EG row is the useful counterexample to a broad “Type A fits 1,000 to 2,500 GPH” rule: Intex explicitly lists that 2,500 GPH item under Type B. Flow labels help describe pumps; a compatibility list identifies the replacement. Do not interpolate between rows or extend them to another brand.

There is a second naming trap. Intex’s Adapter B, 29061E , is a hose-fitting product. Its record describes converting 1.25-inch clamp-on fittings to 1.5-inch screw-on fittings. That B does not tell you the cartridge inside a pump. Verify hose parts and filter elements separately; this article does not prescribe a plumbing conversion.

Likewise, an accessory’s pump-flow requirement cannot identify the cartridge. Our Intex 28000E wall-mount skimmer review covers the skimmer’s pump and connection checks. Use the actual pump’s manual for its replacement element.

Check the pack number after checking the type

Intex sells multiple quantities within the same letter. The manufacturer’s cartridge catalogue distinguishes these packages:

Genuine Intex item Type Cartridges in the named package
29000E A One
29002E A Two
29003E A Three
29005E B One
29006C B Two
29007E H One

A multi-pack changes the purchase quantity, not the cartridge letter your pump needs. Conversely, a listing’s “two pack” wording alone establishes neither genuine Intex identity nor compatibility. Check the manufacturer, complete part number and selected quantity together.

Once the exact type is confirmed, compare the current delivered pack cost divided by its cartridge count. That gives a per-cartridge comparison between packages of the same confirmed type. Also consider how many replacements you need: a lower unit cost is no saving if you buy surplus cartridges or the wrong element. We do not quote a fixed price because offers, shipping and selected packages change.

Before-order worksheet

Keep these details together when checking a seller’s listing or contacting Intex:

  1. Pump identity: photograph the label and record its complete model code, any US sales item number, year and region. Use the pump currently installed, rather than the pool diameter or original bundle description.
  2. Manual requirement: find the correct manual’s cartridge type and replacement part. Confirm that it agrees with the applicable manufacturer compatibility record.
  3. Need for replacement: follow that manual’s inspection and maintenance instructions. Do not open equipment merely to complete a shopping check; follow its shutdown and isolation procedure first.
  4. Order identity: verify genuine Intex, the exact cartridge item, selected pack quantity, seller, delivery to your address and return terms. Recheck them after opening the buying link.

If poor circulation is the reason you started shopping, cartridge selection alone does not diagnose it. Our pool-pump flow and filter-gauge decision map explains why flow observations and the system’s own baseline matter. Apply only checks relevant to your equipment; do not assume a small Intex cartridge pump has the gauge or controls shown in another system’s manual.

Replacement timing: whose recommendation is it?

Intex’s linked A, B and H product pages recommend replacing the cartridge every two weeks for maximum efficiency. That is manufacturer guidance, not a measured two-week service life from our testing and not evidence that every pool loads a cartridge at the same rate.

Follow your exact pump’s care instructions, including any required earlier inspection, cleaning or replacement. Do not use this article to justify keeping a damaged element in service, extending replacement intervals or claiming that a different cartridge letter will solve a maintenance problem.

Which one should you buy?

  • Manual confirms Type A and replacement is needed: match the genuine 29000E single cartridge, or a verified Type A multi-pack in the quantity you need.
  • Manual confirms Type B and replacement is needed: match the genuine 29005E single cartridge, or a verified Type B multi-pack. The listed US 28633EG pump belongs in this branch.
  • Manual confirms Type H: use that requirement. The listed 28601EG takes 29007E; neither linked A nor B package is the purchase for that row.
  • Correct element remains usable and sufficient spares are on hand: buy nothing.
  • Unknown model, conflicting records or an unverified cross-brand equivalent: pause the order until exact compatibility is established.

These are Amazon.com routes for US readers. We verified the named single-pack identities, not a permanent offer or delivery promise. Check your address, seller, selected variant, quantity and return terms on the destination. Readers outside the US should use their regional pump documentation and confirm local product identity; a US listing does not establish regional fit or shipping eligibility.

Common fit questions

Is Type B better than Type A?

The verified records assign them to different pump items. They do not establish a comparative filtration grade or a measured performance advantage. Buy the required replacement for your housing, rather than choosing a letter as an upgrade.

Can I buy an A/C cartridge or another brand’s equivalent?

This audit covers the genuine Intex parts named above. We have not verified cross-brand substitutions or a seller’s A/C equivalence claim. Similar appearance, dimensions or a broad “fits Intex” title do not replace exact compatibility evidence for your pump.

Does every small Intex pump take Type A?

No. The manufacturer’s record lists US item 28601EG with Type H. Check your exact model rather than treating “small Intex pump” as a cartridge specification.

Sources and limits

Checked 2 October 2026: Intex’s Type A record , Type B record , Type H record , cartridge catalogue and Adapter B record . Manufacturer links are factual citations, separate from the Amazon buying links.

We normalized the named US pump items, cartridge letters and package quantities into the two tables. We did not inspect every historical or regional manual, test physical interchangeability, measure filtration performance or verify third-party equivalents. Your exact pump’s documentation remains the final check before purchase.
