Both Maytronics S1 replacement baskets list the Dolphin E10 as compatible. If the current fine basket is broken and ordinary leaves or visible debris are the issue, replace it with the fine basket, part 9991459-R1. Consider the ultra-fine basket, 9991460-R1, when the existing fine basket is clean and intact yet fine visible particles repeatedly pass through. Do not buy either basket to solve cloudy water caused by incorrect sanitizer or pH.

This is a document-based parts and purchase analysis, not a hands-on filtration test. We checked the current Maytronics E10 and replacement-part records, the manufacturer’s care advice, and public-health water-treatment guidance. We did not measure mesh openings, particle capture, flow restriction or cleaning time. The terms “fine” and “ultra-fine” are Maytronics product labels; the linked source pages do not publish a comparable micron rating.

If you are comparing a whole cordless robot instead of an E10 replacement part, the Aiper Scuba S1 review checks the selected filter package and cleaning window. A Maytronics S1 basket name does not establish compatibility with an Aiper Scuba S1 robot.

Basket failure, capture failure and coverage failure need different purchases

Before upgrading, classify the missed material by what the cleaner actually did. If the robot did not reach that area, a finer basket does not solve the coverage gap. If the frame is damaged or poorly seated, a mesh upgrade does not substitute for restoring a correct seal and fit. Only repeated fine debris after normal coverage with an intact, correctly fitted basket supports the filtration question.

Keep the part number alongside that diagnosis. The fine 9991459-R1 and ultra-fine 9991460-R1 differ by more than a seller’s adjective; verify the complete number on the replacement package. Photograph the existing basket and robot label for the supplier if regional compatibility is uncertain.

An intact old fine basket may still be useful for coarser debris if the manufacturer approves it for the robot. There is no need to discard a functioning part solely because an ultra-fine option exists. Conversely, keep a damaged basket out of service rather than saving it as a spare.

This check can prevent buying a filter for a navigation problem. It does not establish a micron rating or measured filtration advantage absent from the manufacturer’s published record.

The E10 product record calls its listed filter a “Fine Filter Kit.” That describes the robot configuration on this regional page; it does not establish that every E10 sold in every market contains replacement part 9991459-R1. Maytronics itself warns that features vary by region. The separate fine basket and ultra-fine basket pages each explicitly list Dolphin E10 among compatible robots. If your unit’s label, basket frame or regional manual differs, confirm the robot model and part number with Maytronics before ordering.

Diagnose the missed material first

  1. Remove the robot from the pool, disconnect power as directed in its manual, and inspect the existing basket for holes, distorted edges and a loose fit.
  2. Rinse the basket thoroughly. Maytronics recommends cleaning after each cycle ; a loaded filter is a maintenance problem, not proof that a finer replacement is required.
  3. Identify what remains on the floor after a complete normal cycle. Leaves and coarse grit point toward ordinary capture or cleaning-path issues. Repeated fine sediment despite an intact, clean basket is the stronger case for trying ultra-fine filtration.
  4. Check the pool’s circulation filter and water-test results separately. A robot’s floor basket cannot replace the pool’s circulation and sanitation system.

That sequence is a diagnostic aid, not a performance test. Maytronics’ public part pages do not quantify how much smaller a particle the ultra-fine option captures. A tighter medium may also need more frequent rinsing when the debris load is heavy, but we have no E10-specific flow measurement to put a number on that tradeoff.

If the real issue is haze or algae, test and correct the water first. The CDC’s home-pool guidance treats chlorine and pH testing as basic water-care controls. Buying a robot basket instead of addressing out-of-range water chemistry is the wrong purchase decision. Our Taylor K-2006C test-kit review covers a suitable testing purchase decision. For manual spot cleanup, the Pool Blaster Max Li CG review covers a separate tool rather than an E10 replacement basket. For the larger cleaner choice, our Dolphin E10 versus Aiper Scuba E1 comparison covers floor-cleaning and cord handling, rather than this replacement-part choice.

What to buy

  • Existing basket clean and working, floor acceptably clean: buy nothing.
  • Fine basket damaged or missing, no fine-particle complaint: confirm your E10 variant and order Maytronics fine S1 part 9991459-R1.
  • Persistent fine visible debris after maintenance: consider Maytronics ultra-fine S1 part 9991460-R1, while keeping the original basket if it remains useful for coarser loads.
  • Unknown robot variant, wrong basket shape or no confirmed part number: pause and ask Maytronics or the seller to verify the exact fit.

The destination displayed the exact replacement-part name and number during review, but availability, selected variant, seller and regional storefront may change.
